This site belongs to Trevor Nace, an individual based in North Carolina, USA. It exists to tell you about the iPhone 101 course and to let you join its waitlist and my email list. Here is everything it does with information about you, in plain words.

What I collect

  • Your email address, only if you type it into the waitlist form. Nothing else is asked for.
  • Ordinary server logs (your IP address, browser type, the pages requested, the time), kept by the hosting company and by Cloudflare, which sits in front of the site to keep it fast and block attacks. These are used only to run and protect the site.

This site sets no cookies of its own, has no advertising, and uses no analytics script in your browser. Cloudflare, which protects the site, may set one short-lived security cookie (for example __cf_bm) to tell browsers from bots; it holds nothing about you.

What I do with your email address

Your address goes to Kit (kit.com), the email service I use, which stores it and sends my emails on my behalf. You will get one email asking you to confirm, then the free guide, then news about iPhone 101 and my iPhone tips email. Every email has an unsubscribe link; clicking it stops them at once. I never sell, rent or share your address. Kit’s own privacy policy is at kit.com/privacy.

Videos on this site

Videos are embedded from YouTube using its privacy-enhanced player, which does not load anything from YouTube until you press play. Once you press play, YouTube (Google) may set cookies and collect data under its own privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

The YouTube API tools behind this site

A plain description of these tools, for anyone curious, is on the tools page.

Behind this site I run small, private tools that use YouTube API Services. They exist to run my own channel: they upload and schedule my videos, set thumbnails and descriptions, read my own channel’s analytics, and read public statistics (titles, publish dates, view counts, lengths) about other channels so I can see which topics people search for. They are registered with Google as an API client in my name and are used only by me, on accounts I own. Nobody else can sign in to them.

Because they use YouTube API Services, the following applies:

  • By using them I agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and the data they receive is also governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
  • What they access: my own channel’s videos, analytics and playlists through my Google account (read, and upload or edit on my own videos only), and public data about other channels’ videos through the API. They never read anyone’s private data, comments, subscriptions or watch history.
  • What they store: my own channel’s videos, analytics and reports, on my computer, for as long as I need them; I re-authorise the tools myself every time they run, which is at most daily. Public statistics about other channels’ videos (view counts, publish dates, lengths) are refreshed at least every 30 days and kept as a history for up to 36 months so I can judge which topics are worth making; other details about those videos (titles, descriptions, channel names) are deleted or refreshed within 30 days. Numbers I compute from that history, such as a topic’s expected views, are my own estimates, generated independently by me and not sourced from YouTube. Nothing is stored in the cloud or on a server.
  • What they never do: share or sell API data, use it for advertising, use it to build profiles of anyone, or download other creators’ videos or thumbnails.
  • Revoking access: the tools hold no saved login; I grant access in the browser each time they run and the access expires within 90 minutes. Anyone who has ever granted a Google permission to one of my tools can also revoke it at security.google.com/settings/security/permissions.
  • Contact about them: trevor@trevornace.com.

The Meta (Facebook and Instagram) tools

A similar private tool posts my finished videos to my own Facebook Page and Instagram account through the Meta APIs (via Publer). It acts only on pages and accounts I own, stores only the post ids it created, and holds no information about any other person. Meta’s privacy policy is at facebook.com/privacy/policy. To delete anything it holds, email trevor@trevornace.com; there is nothing about you in it unless you are me.

Your choices

Unsubscribe from any email with the link at its foot, or write to trevor@trevornace.com and I will delete your address from Kit within 7 days. You can ask what I hold about you at the same address; the honest answer will almost always be “your email address and the dates you opened my emails”, which Kit records.

Children

This site is not aimed at children under 13 and I do not knowingly collect their information.
